A Wedding at the 9:30 Mass Today!

Christina Ryu and Jay Kang
were married at the 9:30 mass today!

Congratulations to parishioners Christina Ryu and Jay Kang who were married during the 9:30 mass today!

Saying "I Do" at mass is not unusual. In fact, receiving the sacrament of marriage is supposed to be celebrated with the whole community.

Take a look at this cool article in U.S. Catholic Magazine.

As weddings have become more about the individuals involved they have become more detached from the community of faith.

Thank you Christina and Jay for sharing your beautiful sacrament with all of us! You are a blessing to our community.

Congratulations to the happy new couple!

and the wedding!

Our Church is like a field hospital.

Great quote by Pope Francis:
“I see the church as a field hospital after battle. It is useless to ask a seriously injured person if he has high cholesterol and about the level of his blood sugars! You have to heal his wounds. Then we can talk about everything else. Heal the wounds, heal the wounds…. And you have to start from the ground up.”

I agree. Let's stick with healing wounds instead of pointing fingers.

Grant Regen is a St. Paul's Genius!

I've got to give a huge shout out to my nephew Grant Regen (St. Paul's 8th grader) who is not only an awesome kid, but as of yesterday he is now the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Recipient! What that means in the real world is that he gets a FREE ride to any high school he wants. Yeah!!!

I mean this kid is an overachiever if I've ever seen one. He is especially a freak when it comes to astrophysics and astronomy and all that sort of stuff. How many 8th graders do you know that stay up all night to record celestial quasars and write blogs for the worlds biggest telescope company! Grant, you are amazing! I can't wait to see what you do in high school and college and beyond.

And I have to give another gigantic shout out to my sister Beth who I am so proud of. She has worked her butt off and done such a wonderful job as a single mom to raise Grant and his brother Ross at USC and sister Heather at Georgetown. They are three incredible young adults. Beth - you are a Rock Star in my book and I am so proud of you! Job well done. Way to gird your loins!!
